Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay School Board heard about the construction project at the school.
Superintendent Keith Price said the project is moving along as scheduled. Work is scheduled to be completed this summer, before the start of the school year. It includes: conversion of the north circle drive into student parking, adding a circle drive to the east side of the high school building, renovating the high school office to become the main entry way to the building with added security features, relocation/remodeling of the high school principal’s office and guidance office and conference room, conversion of a classroom and storage room into new boys and girls restrooms across the current high school gym, renovation of both the current high school boys and girls locker rooms, and removal of the two mobile units behind the high school, removal of asbestos tile and replaced with new tile in both the upstairs and downstairs hallways of the high school.
The Board also took a moment to speak about and recognize the outpouring of support from the North Clay community over recent weeks for the family, classmates and friends of Caide Weidner.

High School Positive News
- Summer School started on May 28th and will be ending this week.
- The locker rooms at the high school are completed with new paint and flooring.
Jr. High/Elementary News
- May 28th – Summer School began – Ends June 27th
- June 3rd – 6th – STEAM Summer Program – 76 studentsveral teachers have been in and out preparing for next school year
- General cleaning/fixes/waxing is making very good progress throughout the building.
- New furniture to outfit our junior high classrooms for students and teachers has and continues to arrive.
- Kara Gaddy in conjunction with the PTO is making great progress with the painting project on our blacktop. Multiple games, designs, and characters.
Upon returning from closed session, the following motions were made by the Board:
- Approve maternity leave for Morgan Cox. Approved 5-0
- Hire Tonni Micklautz as a High School Class Sponsor of the Class of 2028
- Hire Jerin Romack as a High School Class Sponsor of the Class of 2028
- Accept the letter of resignation from Dustin Smith as JH Head Girls Track Coach and JH Head Cross Country Coach
- Hire Jamie Harvel as Head High School Girls Volleyball Coach for the 24-25 school year
- Hire Hanah Clark as JV High School Girls Volleyball Coach for the 24-25 school year
- Hire Hailey Gregg as Head High School Girls Basketball Coach for the 24-25 school year
- Hire Patrick Mapes as Assistant High School Girls Basketball Coach for the 24-25 school year
- Hire Amanda Bailey as Head High School Track Coach, effective immediately
- Approve the posting of two full time substitute positions for the 2024-2025 school year
- Give administration approval to hire necessary certified and non-certified staff
- Approve Posting for a full time bus driver
- Accept the resignation of Larry Northrop as Full-Time Bus Driver for the purpose of retirement.
- Set superintendent pay increase for 24-25 school year
The Board also approved the FY24 budget, and adopted the FY25 budget.
