Michael Habing, 37 years old, of rural Effingham, Illinois went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on Thursday Afternoon August 1, 2024, at the St. Louis University Hospital after a short time with a lingering illness.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, for family and friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the First Christian Church, 901 North Henrietta Street, Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be on August 7, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM with the Pastor Martin Reyes officiating with Christian burial rites at the Arborcrest Memorial Park on the family lot Funkhouser or rural Effingham following the funeral services.
Michael John Eugene Habing was born along with his twin brother into the Christian family of John and Crystal Moriearty Habing Jr. on January 7,1987 in Effingham, Illinois. Michael graduated with the class of 2005 at the Altamont High School where he participated for four years with the Altamont Soccer Team.
He proudly was employed with the Habing Construction and working alongside with his grandfather and father as well as Charlies Knife Shop in Effingham. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #149 of Effingham.
Michael also enjoyed collecting knives as well as playing the piano, keyboard, guitar, harmonica, photography and playing D & D with his friends.
Michael is survived by Father John Joseph Habing Jr., Mother Crystal Darlene Moriearty Habing, Grandfather: John Joseph Habing Sr., and Grandmother: Gayle Golden all of Effingham.
Michael was preceded in death by his twin Brother Joseph Lee Habing in 2013, Grandmother Jane Ellen (Webb) Habing in 2011, Grandfather: Norman Eugene Moriearty in 2010, Grandmother: Loretta Darlene Gulley-Golden Moriearty in 2020, and Grandfather: Pink Lee Golden in 2014.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Hospital and or the donor’s choice.
