Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- One of the first things you notice as you stop by the Effingham County Cultural Center & Museum is the cannon that is sitting out on the Courthouse lawn. It is a callback to the Civil War, and a reminder to everyone of the veterans who fought bravely to get our nation to where it is today. The history of the cannon, and how it came to be placed at the old courthouse, is not widely talked about.
