Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Stormy weather is likely as the evening progresses tonight.
Scattered thunderstorms this evening have a potential to produce damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, isolated hail to quarter size or larger, and heavy rainfall that could lead to urban flooding. There is also a small chance for a tornado. First, however, there will be a round of thunderstorms this morning which have a low chance for severe weather, then at least partial clearing is expected this afternoon before severe thunderstorms arrive this evening. The most likely time for severe thunderstorms is 8 PM until 2 AM tonight.
A few severe thunderstorms with a risk of locally damaging wind gusts to 60 mph and isolated hail to 1 inch diameter are possible Friday afternoon and evening from I-55/155 eastward in central IL. Be sure stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and know where you would go if severe weather threatens.
