Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)-The Regional Office of Education #11 (ROE #11), serving seven counties across East Central Illinois, is dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes by promoting consistent school attendance. As September marks Attendance Awareness Month, ROE #11 is emphasizing the important role of daily school participation.
Research highlights that students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically and socially. Absenteeism not only impacts individual learning but also affects classroom dynamics, overall school performance, and ultimately our communities. With the theme “Showing Up Together,” ROE #11 urges families, schools, and communities to collaborate in fostering a culture of attendance. Regional Superintendent, Dr. Kyle Thompson stated, “Every day a student misses school is a missed opportunity for growth and learning. By working together, we can ensure that all our students have the support they need to attend school consistently and achieve their full potential.”
Statistics reveal that students with fewer absences are more likely to achieve higher test scores, graduate high school, and obtain gainful employment through productive roles within our communities. ROE #11’s school attendance campaign seeks to address the root causes of absenteeism and encourage a united effort in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
The Regional Office of Education #11 comprises 25 public schools, 4 non-public schools, and other associated regional education programs that together enroll more than 20,000 students across more than 3,500 square miles of East Central Illinois. ROE #11 is located at 730 7th Street, Charleston, IL 61920.
