Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the City of Effingham Facebook page:
The City of Effingham would like to congratulate Equipment Operator, Russ Leppin, on being awarded Employee of the Quarter as a part of the City’s Employee Recognition Program.
Leppin was nominated because he has performed above and beyond expectations over this past quarter. Leppin, who has worked for the City for 22 years, persevered through a particularly difficult summer. When unforeseen sewer issues arose with the construction of the new sewer mains on Virginia and Second Street, Leppin showed up, worked hard and never complained.
During this time, Leppin was raising a family, running a horse farm and bouncing back and forth from the NICU in Champaign, Illinois, with the arrival of his twin sons. Throughout this time, Leppin always brought with him a positive attitude and was a leader amongst younger members of the crew. From interacting with homeowners to the taxing physical labor of the job, itself, Leppin continues to be a standout employee with the City of Effingham and is greatly appreciated for all he does.
Police Chief McFarland also announced that a local resident, Steven Bone, was a key witness in the search and eventual apprehension of Hadley R. Majors, who initiated a robbery of the Effingham Walgreens on August 7th. Chief McFarland said Bone’s quick action helped the police locate the suspect and arrest him. Steve was presented with the Citizen Service Citation as a result of his heroic actions.
