Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham Noon Rotarians had a hands-on meeting on October 2, learning to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child is a program sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a worldwide organization that shares the love of Jesus by distributing shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, books and reading and writing materials. The shoeboxes are contributed and filled by individuals who want to help meet the needs of children across the globe.
Amy Hibdon of First Baptist Church of Effingham heads that church’s Operation Christmas Child effort. She led Rotarians in how to pack the shoeboxes, a task in keeping with Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”.
This year’s local Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection effort is set for November 18-25 at Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham.
