The City of Effingham held a ribbon cutting ceremony today for the completion of Thies Avenue, Airport Road and the dedication of Schutzbach Street!
Mayor Mike Schutzbach cut the ribbon officially opening these streets to the public.
Jeremy Heuerman, Director of Public Works spoke about and thanked the many entities involved to build this street and acquire the more than $2 million in grant funds. These improvements were almost 100% grant funded!
Luke Thoele, City Engineer spoke on the details of the project, citing 1,250 feet of new sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, curb and gutter, and a concrete street was constructed on Thies and Schutzbach Street. Also, the work on Airport Road under the County of Effingham’s jurisdiction replaced 1,100 feet of oil and chip with storm sewer, curb and gutter and a concrete street.
This $2.24 million construction project was completed by A & R Mechanical out of Urbana, Illinois. The engineering design and inspection for this project was performed by Milano and Grunloh Engineers.
