Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Veterans’ Day is November 11, and there are lots of local veterans throughout our history who made an impact on a large scale. World War I history is hard to find in places, but local veterans and leaders made their mark on local history regardless.
Delaine Donaldson of the Effingham County Cultural Center & Museum did a little digging on the veterans from WWI in the local area, and how the war brought some unwarranted discrimination to Americans of German descent locally. You can listen to the interview below.
Thanks to Delaine Donaldson for giving more details on WWI veterans from local communities. You can find more information on the museum and learn more about the County’s history at effinghamcountymuseum.org.
This is part of a monthly series of interviews that will continue next month.
This interview was conducted by Derek Warren, News Director for Cromwell Media, Effingham
