Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- On October 25, 2024, Effingham County Board Administrator, Angela Thompson, was honored with a graduation ceremony at the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL for her attendance and successful completion of the 2024 Leadership Academy sponsored by UCCI.
The Leadership Academy, developed by the University of Illinois Extension, provides training on important leadership issues for elected and appointed county officials. Some topics presented for discussion were managing change, data driven decision making, parliamentary procedure, leadership styles assessment, managing economic development, crisis communication, and more.
The Leadership Academy is specifically designed for county officials looking to expand their leadership skills through exploration of innovative ideas and developing practical responses to current issues, challenges, and opportunities. Incorporation of instructional sessions assists in the learning, sharing, and application of techniques learned supporting retention and practical application in the students’ everyday lives.

Angie is our board administrator and the backbone of the Effingham County Board. Angie brings a vast amount of knowledge and ability to our office and this program will further her leadership skills and abilities. About Effingham County Board
The Effingham County Board is the legislative body of County Government comprised of nine elected members, each representing a geographic district within the County. The Board participates in an open meeting monthly on the third Monday of the month, with the exception of holidays in which the meeting date is moved to Tuesday. The Board also encompasses a variety of committees that report and recommend to the board.
