3-Vehicle Accident With Injury In Dieterich

DRIVERS:

• Unit 1: 16 year old Alexi M. Miller of Montrose
• Unit 2: 38 year old Bridget R. Welter of Effingham
• Unit 3: 63 year old Cheryl J. Winterrowd of Teutopolis

VEHICLES:

• Unit 1: Gray 2016 Chevrolet Cruz
• Unit 2: White 2015 Kia Cadenza
• Unit 3: Black 2017 Buick Enclave

BRIEF SYNOPSIS:

• Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reports Unit 1 was travelling east on Route 33. Unit 2 was travelling in front of Unit 1. Unit 3 was travelling in front of Unit 2. The vehicle in front of Unit 3 braked for a turning vehicle. Unit 2 & 3 were at a complete stop. Unit 1 failed to stop and collided with Unit 2, causing Unit 2 to collide with Unit 3.

CITATIONS:

• The driver of Unit 1 was cited for failure to reduce speed, and the driver of Unit 2 was cited for operating a vehicle without insurance.

TRANSPORTS:

• The driver of Unit 1 was transported to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital by Rural Med EMS with non-incapacitating injuries.
