Delbert was born into a farming family on October 7, 1932, to Aloysius “Allie” and Elizabeth (Goeckner) Habing in Effingham County. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Mae Cordes, on May 28, 1960. Delbert worked at Norge/Fedders Corporation for 43 years until his retirement.
Life led by simplicity is a life well lived. Delbert truly enjoyedthe simple things in life. He enjoyed his golf cart rides, playing cards, mushroom hunting, picking up cans on a walk, watching game shows, cookouts, AC tractors, and bragging about having the first ripe tomato. While he did, in fact, enjoy these activities, the most enjoyment he found came from doing these activities with the people he loved. His definition of family was anyone willing to show love and be present in his life. His character, hishappy smile, and his general well-being towards others is a true statement of love. Those who miss him dearly will never forget that he lived his life through this definition of family and that statement of love.
