Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- The Federal Trade Commission is banning hidden junk fees for hotels and event tickets.
The agency announced Tuesday it finalized the bipartisan rule. Businesses will now be required to show the true total price when they offer, display or advertise any price of live-event tickets or short-term lodging. FTC Chair Lina Khan said, “People deserve to know up-front what they’re being asked to pay — without worrying that they’ll later be saddled with mysterious fees that they haven’t budgeted for and can’t avoid.”
The issue has been a focal point for President Biden, who said the fees add up and take “real money out of the pockets of Americans.”
