Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- As part of the Effingham 2050 Comprehensive Plan, a Focus Group Meeting for Transportation, Public Transportation and Airport will be held on December 16 at 5:30 pm in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
Representatives from Effingham County and IDOT have been invited for Transportation, members of the Airport Commission have been invited for the Airport and representatives of Central Illinois Public Transit/Effingham County Public Transportation have also been invited.
The public is invited and welcome to attend and will be afforded opportunities to contribute and participate in the meeting.
The purpose of the Focus Group Meeting is to look at what has been done to improve over the last 20 to 30 years, where we are today – what issues need addressed and what can be done and to Goals for the next 20 to 25 years. There will also be discussion on Implementation Plan(s) which may include new or revised policies, new or revised regulations to achieve the Goals.
For example, Outer Belt West was a goal from the 1995 Plan – it took some time but is has been completed – helping with traffic flows on the West side and opening up land for new development. A new Goal could be something like a US 45 bypass around the East side from maybe the Heartville area to North of Rickelman Avenue.
The extension of the airport runway was a Goal in the previous plan, it is currently underway. A new Goal for the Airport could be securing a Charter Service.
