Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Rain continues as the strong weather system moves northeast across central Illinois. Rain will change to snow as colder air arrives this afternoon.
A strong low pressure system will result in gusty winds from this afternoon into this evening. Northwest gusts up to 55 mph are in the forecast, so use caution when driving, especially in high profile vehicles, and secure lightweight outdoor objects. The light rain will change to light snow. The snow will combine with the strong winds to create reduced visibilities at times.
Another chance of rain with snow north of I-74 is expected Thursday night into Friday. Temps will remain seasonal into the weekend.
