Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated the DAR Good Citizens at the March 29rd meeting. A brunch was held before the youth day awards presentation.
Nine local high schools nominated outstanding seniors to be candidates for the DAR Good Citizen Award. To be eligible for this award, students must demonstrate the qualities of dependability, service to their schools and community, leadership, cooperation, courtesy, positive role models, and patriotism. Good Citizens chairman Carolyn Buck gave an overview of each student’s accomplishments and Regent Brenda Wagy presented pins and certificates to this year’s winners: Kadence Sutter, Beecher City High School; Korina Hecht, Effingham High School; Sophia Pearcy, Altamont High School; James Porter, Stewardson-Strasburg High School; Jacqueline Niebrugge, St. Anthony High School; Emily Zumbahlen, Teutopolis High School; Tanner Will, Dieterich High School; and Wyatt Reuff, Cowden-Herrick High School. Kayden Hetzer, Newton Community High School was unable to attend. He received his certificate and pin earlier in March from the chapter Regent.
Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter are proud to take this opportunity to recognize the outstanding youth in our communities.
