Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Scattered severe storms are likely today for central and southeast IL.
Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes all possible during this period. Very large hail, widespread damaging wind, and a few strong tornadoes are favored near and south of I-70. Stay weather aware and take shelter if a warning is issued for your location.

Very large hail, widespread damaging wind, and a few strong tornadoes are favored near and south of I-70. A Wind Advisory is in effect until midnight tonight.
Periods of showers and storms will affect the area today through Saturday. Cumulative rain total are forecast to reach around 1-2″ west of the IL River, to 6″+ near and south of I-70. This could lead to flash flooding as well as river flooding over the coming days.
A Flood Watch will go into effect at 1pm and continue until 7am April 6th. A Tornado Watch has also been issued for southwestern IL until 4pm today.
