Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the RMC Cinemas Effingham Facebook page:
Due to disruptive behavior, all showings of Minecraft are now subject to the same age restrictions as R rated films. All guests under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a responsible guardian that is at least 21 years of age in the auditorium for the duration of the film. There will be no exceptions.
It is regrettable that we need to make this change, but it is necessary to protect the safety and viewing experience for guests and to protect theater property. There have been countless incidents the past two weeks of:
- Throwing ice, candy, full sodas and bags of popcorn
- Sitting on the floor blocking traffic
- Jumping up and down on seats
- Screaming
- Shouting of obscenities
- Use of foghorns and other props
- Trashing of restrooms
We are concerned that things are going to continue to escalate without instituting restrictions.
For clarification:
- Guests under 17 will have to be with a responsible adult that is at least 21 years old for the duration of the film. If the adult leaves the auditorium more than just a few minutes, so must the minors.
- Underage guests without a guardian will be denied entry or removed from the auditorium even if they have a ticket.
- Ages 17-20 can purchase their own ticket, but not tickets for guests under 17.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause to those that would not partake in disruptive behavior and are now unable to attend due to the disruptive individuals.
