The semi driver involved in a deadly accident that occurred in July in Flora was arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.
62 year old, Walter Pollock, of Sikeston, Missouri was driving the semi that was involved in the accident. According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, Pollock was traveling eastbound on Route 50 near Stanford Street in Flora on July 27th when his semi swerved into the westbound lanes and struck vehicles driven by 29 year old, Eric Bosel, of Noble and 27 year old, Jacob Russell Stewart, of Olney. Both Bosel and Stewart were killed in the crash.
Pollock is charged with three counts of aggravated driving while under the influence of drugs, two counts of reckless homicide, possession of Methamphetamine, on-duty commercial driver driving while under the influence of drugs, and possession of drugs by an on-duty commercial driver. Pollock appeared in Clay County Court and was informed of his bond of $250,000 with the conditions that he refrains from using alcohol, non-prescribed drugs, and illegal drugs and is subject to random drug testing. Pollock posted bond and was released. A preliminary hearing was set for September 13th at 10:30am.
