EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- An Effingham man was arrested recently for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.
According to Effingham Police Chief Fuesting, the Department was alerted to a crime that had occurred and an investigation was launched.
Chief Fuesting stated that the investigation showed that the crime had occurred in the Summer of 2015.
As a result, 30 year old, Darien G McKinney II, of Effingham was taken into custody.
According to Chief Fuesting, when the alleged crime occurred in the 900 block of 3rd Street, McKinney was 27 years old and the victim was 12.
They were reported as being acquaintances.
According to Judici.com, McKinney appeared in Effingham County Court on Wednesday where he was arraigned and his bond was set.
McKinney’s bond was set at $250,000 with the condition of no contact with any person under 18 years of age.
According to Effingham County State’s Attorney Kibler, McKinney faces 6-60 years in prison and 3 years to life of Mandatory Supervised Release if convicted.
He will appear in court again on June 7th at 10:00am.
All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
