EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A Frost Advisory and a Freeze Warning have been issued for our listening area.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a cold high pressure will drift across the region tonight and the temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s to middle 30s by early Tuesday morning.
After the cold start to the day on Tuesday, winds from the southwest will help boost temperatures into the 50s.
A Frost Advisory has been issued for Cumberland, Clark, Effingham, Jasper, Crawford, Clay, Richland, and Lawrence Counties from 10pm this evening until 8am on Tuesday.
A Frost Advisory is also in effect for Fayette, Clinton, Bond, and Marion Counties from 11pm this evening until 9am on Tuesday.
A Frost Advisory means that widespread frost is expected and sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
Additionally, a Freeze Warning has been issued for Christian, Macon, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Edgar, and Shelby Counties from 10pm this evening until 8am on Tuesday.
A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely and these conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
