EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Weak funnel clouds are possible this afternoon across Central Illinois and dangerously hot and humid conditions will be coming later this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, weak funnel clouds will be possible across Central Illinois this afternoon as the remnants of once Hurricane Barry pass over the area.
Funnel clouds will typically form beneath a developing shower, but will dissipate once it begins to rain.
This type of funnel cloud rarely touches down.
Taking a look at the forecast for the rest of this week, dangerously hot and humid conditions are being forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, heat indices of 100-115 degrees are likely beginning on Wednesday, with the hottest conditions expected on Thursday and Friday.
This has prompted an Excessive Heat Watch to be issued for Counties in the Western part of our listening area.
Residents of urged to limit strenuous outdoor activities and spend more time in the shade or air conditioned buildings.
