Mattoon Police Recent Activity

Mattoon Police arrested April D. Vice, 37 years of age of Mattoon, for an active arrest warrant out of Coles County for failing to appear for a 2020 Larceny case, an active arrest warrant out of Edgar County for Contempt of Court, as well as for a new offense of Possession of Methamphetamine.

The arrest occurred on 02/02/2021 at 8:45am in the 2100 block of Champaign Ave in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/2/21 while in the 2100 block of Champaign Ave, police located and took into custody the Ms. Vice for the active warrants.  During this time, Ms. Vice had possession of Methamphetamine.  Ms. Vice was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Whitney J. Bell, 20 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Violation of Bail Bond.

The arrest occurred on 2/2/21 at 9:09am in the 2200 block of Richmond Ave in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/2/21, and while in the 2200 block of Richmond Ave, Ms. Bell entered upon property she had previously been ordered by bond condition to stay away from.  Ms. Bell was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Tyreese N. Jordan, 29 years of age of Chicago, IL, for the offenses of Domestic Battery and Interfering with the Reporting of a Domestic Battery.

The arrest occurred on 2/2/21 in the 700 block of S. 25th Street in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/2/21 while in the 700 block of S. 25th Street, and during a domestic disturbance, Mr. Jordan pushed a female and pulled her hair.  The charges further allege that while the female was calling for police assistance, Mr. Jordan took the phone from the female and disconnected the call.  Mr. Jordan was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested James C. Farris Jr., 43 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Battery and Resisting a Police Officer.

The arrest occurred on 2/2/21 at 3:54pm at Mattoon PD.  The charges allege that on 1/30/21 while in the 2400 block of Shelby Ave in Mattoon, Mr. Farris touched a female inappropriately by way of touching her breast and attempting to slide his hand up her shorts.  Mr. Farris was located at MPD on 2/2/21 after coming to the PD for a sex offender registration, at which time he was confronted about the allegations.  Mr. Farris attempted to flee from an officer and from MPD at this time, and had to be restrained from doing so.  Mr. Farris was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Develle C. O’ Quinn, 51 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Aggravated Battery of a Child.

The arrest occurred on 2/5/21 at 3:25pm in the 1700 block of Olive in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/5/21 while in the 300 block of N. 16th Street, Mr. O’ Quinn punched a 10 year old child in the face during a domestic dispute.  Mr. O’ Quinn was arrested later that day and taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Develle C. O’ Quinn, 51 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Violation of Bail Bond.

The arrest occurred on 2/16/21 at 11:11am in the 300 block of N. 16th Street in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/16/21, while in the 300 block of N. 16th Street, Mr. O’ Quinn entered upon a residence he had previously been ordered by bond condition to stay away from.  Mr. O’ Quinn was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Chad A. Thompson, 36 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Aggravated Assault.

The arrest occurred on 2/17/2021 at 8:47pm in the 2900 block of Marion Ave in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/17/21, police were called to the 2900 block of Marion to assist the Mattoon Fire Department, who were there investigating an illegal burning issue.  Mattoon Police arrived and observed Mr. Thompson arguing with the fire department and attempting to interfere with them putting out the fire.  The Fire Department was able to extinguish the illegal burn, and an officer proceeded to issue Mr. Thompson a citation for illegal burning, at which time Mr. Thompson advanced at the officer with a raised fist.  Mr. Thompson was then arrested for aggravated assault and was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Brian D. Reardon, 50 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Resisting / Obstructing a Police Officer.

The arrest occurred on 2/17/2021 at 11:29pm in the 1000 block of Wabash Ave in Mattoon.  The charge alleges that on 2/17/21 police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of Wabash Ave.  Upon arrival, police located the male half of the disturbance, Mr. Reardon, was wanted for an active Coles County warrant for failing to appear for a 2018 Resisting Arrest charge.  Mr. Reardon became belligerent with officers, yelling at them with a glass bottle in his hand, at which time police attempted to take Mr. Reardon into custody.  While doing so, Mr. Reardon struggled with officers, however was eventually secured and was taken to the Coles County Jail.
