It has come to our attention that an unknown person(s) is calling and visiting area homes pretending to be an employee of Washington Savings Bank to retrieve personal information. Washington Savings Bank WILL NOT call you for personal information or make house calls. Washington Savings Bank DOES NOT solicit money over the phone. Please be aware of scammers and NEVER give out any personal information.
Scammers can be very convincing. They may ask you to let them remote into and take control of your computer. They may also give you explicit directions on what to do with your money. They will tell you to not tell anyone including the bank what you were instructed to do.
Although we do have a fraud department, our calls or text messages will only ask you to verify debit card transactions. We will never ask for your passwords, accounts numbers or any other confidential information.
If you ever question the call you receive please contact the bank and we will confirm the legitimacy of the caller.
