Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham County board started their Monday meeting expressing their appreciation for the retiring members of the County staff.
County Board Chairman Josh Douthit recognized the following:
Effingham County Treasurer Paula Miller for 33 years of service.
Effingham County Clerk and Recorder Kerry Hirtzel for 20 years of service.
County Circuit Clerk John Niemerg for 10 years of service.
Douthit also recognized retiring County Board members:
Rob Arnold for 12 years on the County Board.
Joe Thoele for 10 years on the County Board.
Heather Mumma for 4 years on the County Board.
John Perry for 6 years on the County Board.
And Jim Niemann for 12 years on the County Board, including as Chairman.
The Board also recognized maintenance worker Tony Hille for his 17 years of service to the County.
The Board also:
- approved a lease for space in the County Office Building for incoming Congressman Mike Bost
- approved a lease for office space on the second floor of the County Government Center
- approved a new lease fee of $400/month with the Veterans Administration
- approved $50,000 in ARPA funds for Mason Township Park District for building and library updates
- appointed Rick Manford to the Ambulance Oversight Board (Elizabeth Huston abstained)
- disbursed $53,755 in ARPA funds for purchase of a vehicle for the County EMA
The Board also approved meeting times of the Transportation Committee as the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm, and meeting times of the Health and Insurance Committee as the first Tuesday of each month at 2:30pm. They also approved the members of the Transportation Committee. Norbert Soltwedel will be chairman, Jeremy Deters will be vice-chairman, and Elizabeth Huston a member.
