Windsor, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Windsor Fire Protection District Facebook Page:
Over 20 years ago, Dana Ratliff of rural Windsor, IL. became Windsor Fire Protection District’s first female firefighter. There have been more that have followed in her footsteps, just as she followed her grandfather’s footsteps, by joining the fire dept. Despite the certain difficulty of integrating into a male dominant field, she knew what she wanted to do and saw it through. Dana recalls one of the highlights of her career has been her ability to be a role model for young girls to look up to and know, there’s nothing they can’t do with hard work and determination.
January 30th, 2023 marked the final day that Dana Ratliff will be answering the call for The Windsor Fire Protection District as she made the decision to officially retire and step away. We most certinly appreciate her service to our community and are very thankful for her sacrifce over the last 20 years. We wish her nothing but the best in the future.
Thank you, Dana, for all you have done, enjoy your retirement!
