Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois Farm Bureau is applauding the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Clean Water Act. The high court ruled the Environmental Protection Agency overstepped its authority by restricting private property owners from developing their own land.
Mark Gebhards is the Executive Director of Governmental Affairs and Commodities with the Illinois Farm Bureau.
The Supreme Court case goes all the way back to 2004. An Idaho couple were building a home when they were told they could not backfill a lot with dirt because the property was on wetlands adjacent to a tributary.
EPA officials said the agency would review the court decision and consider its next steps.
