Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The local air quality is dropping and so is the visibility.
Smoke from the Canadian wildfires continues to push southwest early this afternoon. This smoke has moved into portions of western IL, and will continue to spread southwest today through tomorrow morning. Visibilities could be reduced in areas of heaviest smoke, and it’s possible it may smell like smoke as well.
There is a chance (30-50%) of scattered showers and thunderstorms along a warm front Wednesday morning mainly across portions of central and northeastern Missouri. However, given the scattered nature of the showers and thunderstorms, most locations will not see rainfall. Those that do can expect generally less than a half an inch of accumulation.
It will be hot for many locations across the region on Thursday and Friday, with portions of central and southeastern Missouri seeing the greatest chance of temperatures hitting 100 degrees both day. This heat will combine with humidity to produce heat index values over 100 degrees and possibly over 105 degrees for locations primarily along and south of I-70.
