Xenia, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page:
On January 10, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m. the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, ILEAS SRT and U.S. Marshals Service conducted an operation in Xenia relating to a Clay County Arrest Warrant. Upon the arrival of law enforcement in the area the wanted subject fled from a residence. Law enforcement was able to locate the subject a short time later hiding in a nearby wooded area. The subject was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Clay County Jail.
As a result of this incident Christopher S. Brown, 42, of Xenia, who is currently on Mandatory Supervised Release from I.D.O.C., was arrested on a Clay County No Bond Warrant for the offense of Theft. Brown was incarcerated at the Clay County Jail at the time of this release and is awaiting his first appearance in Clay County Court.
The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
