Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The month of February is always special at the Washington Savings Bank locations, as they host their annual “Give a Heart” fundraiser to raise Heart Health Awareness. All five locations participate in selling paper hearts for $1 apiece for this fundraiser. Customers then write or have an employee write their name, their company name, a family, a friend, or a pet’s name on the hearts in their honor.
In total, the five locations sold a total of 435 paper hearts. Washington Savings Bank rounded up the amounts this year to raise a total of $900.
The funds raised from the two Effingham locations will go to the Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. Prairie Heart at St. Anthony’s combines advanced technology and innovative treatment with a caring tradition, providing quality health care close to home.
The amounts raised at the two Mattoon locations and one location in Lerna will go to the Sarah Bush Heart Center. The Sarah Bush Lincoln Heart Center provides a wide range of cardiovascular services.
Thank you to all who contributed to this campaign! The money raised for both organizations will go towards helping those who struggle to pay for costs associated with any of their heart treatments.
