Darrell was born on May 25, 1932 in Rinard, IL, the son of Fred E. and Mable M. (Ostrander) Bullard. He married Marlene Powers in 1959, and they were blessed with 3 children, Wesley, Robin, and Kevin. She preceded him in death on August 17, 1987.
He graduated from Flora High school, Class of 1950. Darrell was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War 1951-1953; he was a member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion. Darrell was employed at Effingham Truck Sales as General Manager for 38 years.
Being idle was not for Darrell. He enjoyed his corvettes, NASCAR races, travels in and out of the states, cruising the seas, and the annual week-long Bullard reunions. He loved dancing and country drives listening to his favorite CDs. He liked Abba, The Bee Gees, and would also slip White Snake’s “Here We Go Again” onto his playlists. Darrell and Jean liked sharing Sunday afternoons at Gym Bob’s Jamboree.
Darrell is survived by his children, Wesley Bullard, Robin Harris, and Kevin (Mary Jane) Bullard; grandchildren, Shane Bullard, Maria Bullard, Lance Harris and Ian (Hunter) Harris; sister, June (Leonard) Greenwood; many nieces and nephews; and a very special lady, Jean Cooley. Jean was his shining star, best friend, companion, competitive jokester and his second chance in love.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen (Fern), Ardell (Mary), Vick (Lucy), Larry (Wilma), and Don (Joann); and sisters, Ruth Howe (Bernice) and Shirley Dowdy (Chuck).
The family would like to say a special thank you to each and every CNA and nurse at Flora Gardens. They gave their 100% to Darrell.
