Several local student athletes participated in the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship held in Mason, Michigan on July 11th through 13th.
Local schools sending both teams and individuals included: Altamont, Beecher City, Cumberland, Dieterich, Effingham, St. Elmo, South Central, Stewardson-Strasburg, and Teutopolis.
On day one of competition, 261 teams competed, and the top 80 teams advanced to the championship round.
Local teams that advanced to the championship round were Beecher City who finished 62nd place overall with members including: Gage Hart, Raylee Martin, Jade Short, Kendrick Stoldt, & Adam Stuckemeyer.
Effingham team 2 finished 69th place overall with members including: Ashlyn Davis, Kaden Field, Abby Feldhake, Korina Hecht and Kierstyn Hendrix.
Teutopolis Team one finished 14th place overall with members including: Conner Beckman, Chance Borries, Dane Funneman, Augie Jansen, & Claresa Ruholl.
Teutopolis Team two finished 71st overall with members including: Lane Apke, Cody Hemmen, Jackson Kinkelaar, Seth Koester, & Allie Wilhelms.
On day two, 1800 individual athletes competed with the top 400 advancing to the championship round.
Hank Sipe of Dieterich shot a perfect 100 out 100 and finished 10th overall in the shoot off making the podium.
Other local Individuals that advanced included
Emma Bowman from Altamont who finished 397th overall.
Raylee Martin and Jade Short from Beecher City finished 128th and 168th overall.
Austin Carlen from Cumberland finished 62nd overall.
Brayden Hahn, Madison Hahn, and Colby Koester all from Dieterich 17th, 162nd, and 308th overall respectively.
Kaden Field, Emma Jones, Wyatt Newburn and Brandon Walls all from Effingham finished 170th, 288th, 356th, and 47th overall respectively.
Chase Hassebrock from South Central finished 398th overall.
Conner Beckman, Chance Borries, Dane Funneman, Augie Jansen, Claresa Ruholl all from Teutopolis finished 290th, 46th, 204th, 60th, 365th overall respectively
