Carlyle Lake, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Carlyle Lake provides over 20,000 acres of public land available for hunting. As hunting season approaches, we would like to remind all hunters of the importance of practicing safe and ethical hunting. Hunter ethics are essential for ensuring responsible and sustainable hunting, fostering respect for wildlife, and promoting conservation efforts. Please keep these key principles in mind as you prepare for the season.
Hunting is allowed on all public land associated with the Carlyle Lake Project, except in designated off-limits areas. Please note that hunting is also restricted within 100 yards of developed recreation sites or residences.
Share Public Lands:
Respect fellow hunters and wildlife enthusiasts by sharing public spaces responsibly. Maintain a spirit of cooperation and courtesy to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
Dispose of Carcasses Responsibly:
Properly dispose of animal remains to avoid harming the environment and disturbing the community. Leaving carcasses in public areas is not only unethical but also illegal on public lands.
Respect Land Ownership:
Always obtain permission before entering private land. In Illinois, it is illegal to shoot across private property without consent. Remember that you cannot trespass to retrieve wounded game without the landowner’s permission.
Prioritize Safety:
Always follow safety guidelines to protect yourself and others in the field. This includes wearing appropriate gear and being mindful of your surroundings.
By upholding these ethical principles, we can ensure that hunting remains a legitimate tool for wildlife management while fostering a deeper appreciation for our natural resources.
