Rose “Rosie” M. Birch, 85, of Bible Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:43 am Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois, with her loving family by her side.
Rose was born on November 20, 1938, in Bible Grove to Walter and Amanda (Storck) Landwehr. She was united in marriage to Darrel Max Birch on November 8, 1958, at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and they shared 44 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 15, 2003.
Rose, better known as Rosie, dedicated her life to the service of others, as a school bus driver for North Clay School for over 30 years retiring in 2001. She found joy in the simple things in life, like helping her father on the farm and then later helping her late husband, Darrel, with the farm, mowing her yard, and hosting Sunday family dinners at her home. These gatherings were a testament to her love for her family and her dedication to keeping them close.
Rosie is survived by her children: Gene (Helen) Birch of Bible Grove, Rose Ann (Joe) Jackson of San Antonio, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Amanda (Rene) Perdomo, Jena (Anthony) Boose, Mackenzie (Zach) Shearin, Grant Jackson, Olivia Jackson; 5 great-grandchildren: Mallory Boose, Ali Boose, Bryan Perdomo, Garrett Boose, Ava Perdomo. She is also survived by her sisters and brother-in-law: Karen (Stan) Dillman Champaign, Illinois, Jeannie Birch of Newton, Illinois, Rita Jean Birch of Clay City, Terry (Carole) Birch of Louisville; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Dorothy Webb; brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard (Wanda) Birch, Merril (Elaine) Birch, Ronald Birch, and Reggie Ray Birch; one nephew: Mark Dillman.
Funeral Services to celebrate Rosie’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 25, 2024, at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Tim Davis and Patrick Powers officiating. Burial will follow at the Brooks Cemetery, rural Louisville. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rosie’s memory to the American Diabetes Association in honor of her husband Darrel and grandson Grant.
