Effingham High School will retire the jersey of Blair Hardiek at the 50 Years of Women’s Athletics event on December 14th.
Under head coach Jeff Schaefer, Blair Hardiek ’03 earned first-team all-state honors from the Associated Press, the Chicago Sun-Times and the IBCA her senior year at Effingham High School. She was also named to Street and Smith’s All-America honorable mention team, nominated for the McDonald’s All-America team, named first-team all-conference and all-area by multiple organizations, averaged 24 points and 10 rebounds per game, and lead the Hearts to a 23-5 record and a regional title.
At graduation, Hardiek held the school records for career points (2,540), rebounds (836), steals (466), assists (335), blocked shots (127) and 3-point field goals (132). Today Hardiek still holds three of those records: career points, rebounds, and steals.
