Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The FDA is issuing multiple oyster and Manila clam alerts for 17 states and Washington, DC saying those shellfish could be contaminated with norovirus. The states involved in those advisories include Arizona, California, Colorado, and the District of Columbia.
S&M Shellfish in San Francisco issued a recall on December 13th for products sold under the names Fanny Bay, Buckley Bay and Royal Miyagi Oysters after a number of people got sick from norovirus, a serious gastrointestinal illness, after eating the shellfish. An urgent product recall advises consumers not to consume them and to return or label them, “not safe, don’t touch and/or to be destroyed.”
