Rose M. Greenwood, 88, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Rose was born on July 10, 1936 in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Elsie and Amy (Croft) Francis.
Rose worked as a nanny in Mt. Pulaski, and then came back to Effingham and worked at Wimpy’s Grill, and the Effingham Hospital. After that, she returned to Chicago and worked as a nanny and cleaning in a restaurant. She was a member of the Watson United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the St. Anthony’s Ladies Auxiliary, and member of Royal Neighbors of America. Rose was very caring, thoughtful, and helpful to everyone.
Rose is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary (Paul) Goeckner; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; many great-great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Vickie Bond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Joliff; husband, Wayne Greenwood; sisters, Lucille McMahon, Doris Peters, Shirley Mason, and Norma Eaton; and brothers, Ernest Francis and Bob Francis.
The family would like to express many thanks to Lakeland Nursing Home, Transitions Hospice, and especially her roommate, Deb Tara.
