James Lloyd Allen, age 79, of Shumway, Illinois passed away the evening of Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with a visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Saint Clare Catholic Cemetery in Altamont. Memorials may go to the donor’s choice.
James was born on April 9, 1945 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Lloyd W. and Alma V. (Elledge) Allen. He worked for Egyptian Concrete in Salem for many years. James adored horses, gardening, and collecting knickknacks. He loved to decorate for Christmas and hung the lights every year for as many years as he could. He was known as a very private person, but valued his time spent time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his companion, Carol Kuhlman of Shumway; sons, Loyd Allen of Salem and Greg Allen (wife Stacey) of Salem; Daughter, Tammy Allen of Salem; step-sons, Steven Kuhlman (wife Dawn) of Beecher City, Patrick Kuhlman (wife Betsy) of Shumway, Derrick Kuhlman of Altamont , and Chris Kuhlman (wife Shari) of Farina; daughter, Tammy Allen of Salem; sisters, Helen Whitney (husband Charles) of Farina and Effa Harmon of Farina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Alma Allen; brother, Leonard Allen; sisters, Elsie James and Linda Duckwitz.
