Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Severe weather is in the forecast once again, and continued rainfall will add an extra flooding possibility for the area.
Scattered severe storms are likely for central and southeast IL on Wednesday. Stay weather aware and take shelter if a warning is issued for your location. South winds will gust up to 50 mph outside of thunderstorms Wednesday. Secure loose objects ahead of time and use extra caution when driving, especially on east west roads.
Waves of showers and storms will affect the area Wednesday through Saturday. A flood watch has been issued for southeastern Illinois through Sunday morning.
The heaviest rain is expected near and south of I-70, where totals over 6″ are forecast. This will increase risks of flash flooding and river flooding late this week.
