Music Education for Kids
Music education can benefit children in many ways, including brain development, language development, confidence and motor skills, experts say. To aid in your child’s early development, attend the Music Education for Kids program for children ages 5 to 9 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the Effingham Public Library.
Austin Stout, music educator at Effingham Unit 40 schools, will lead a percussion-based music class for the children. The library will supply the percussion instruments and the space for your little ones to jam.
Dr. Eric Rasmussen, chair of the Early Childhood Music Department at the Peabody Preparatory of Johns Hopkins University, notes that “… children involved in music have larger growth of neural activity than people not in music training. When you’re a musician and you’re playing an instrument, you have to be using more of your brain!”
There is no registration for this event. A library card also is not necessary to attend.
